Lauren of Ume
This is the Pampelmoose edition of the New Music Hour on Portland’s 94.7FM. I decided to settle on a theme for this one - female musicians - which is not as facile as it sounds. Just recently I’ve been thrilled to hear a new breed of female musicians bringing the alt-rock and fronting [...]

This episode of the Pampelmoose edition of the New Music Hour on Portland’s 94.7FM is slightly shorter as we had special guests Dead Confederate in the studio to play an acoustic version of The Rat. After the show Squid and I saw them put on an amazing show at the Doug Fir. [...]

My favorite local kick-ass, proto-punk outfit The Thermals, have changed teams moving from Seattle’s Sub Pop to Portland’s Kill Rock Stars. There’s a new album underway that should see the light of day around April 2009. After three albums on Sub Pop, ‘More Parts Per Million,’ Fuckin’ A’ and ‘The Body, The Blood, The Machine,’ [...]

[L-R] Noel Redding, Jimi Hendrix and Mitch Mitchell
R.I.P. Mitch Mitchell the original drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience. He apparently died of natural causes in his hotel room at Portland’s Benson Hotel. Yahoo! has the story:
PORTLAND, Ore. – Mitch Mitchell, drummer for the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience of the 1960s and the group’s last surviving [...]
