Amazon launches SoundUnwound, a new music site

Pampelmoose SoundUnwound

I’m not certain that the world needs a new music site but this one looks interesting as it is user-driven. Amazon and IMDb have teamed up to bring us SoundUnwound. A quick search of ‘Gang of Four’ brings perfunctory results but here’s where the tail can wag the dog - if I become a member of the site I can update the artist details. It’s a wiki of sorts. Check their blog for more.

Here’s a question for all of you great copyright thinkers - how can a company like IMDb get away with making a business out of information, data and images that haven’t been signed over to them? For instance, Gang of Four still own the album artwork for all our releases, not any record label.

Dave–I am sure the suits at IMDB would argue that they aren’t selling the information itself, but rather the ACCESS to it…an important distinction in the courts, but not so much to the original copyright holder…
