Talking Heads reunion? Brian Eno and David Byrne, new album, free mp3
August 8th, 2008 by Dave Allen

[Update: I removed the video of Byrne discussing the album as, rather annoyingly, I was unable to undo the auto-play function.] It’s been many years since Byrne and Eno released the ground breaking album ‘My Life In The Bush of Ghosts‘ an album that was an analog precursor to the sampling habits of today’s musicians. The album is called ‘Everything That Happens Will Happen Today’ and here’s the website with all the info. I don’t know if it’s my imagination but Byrne appears to say in the video cliip that he will be performing the new material with Talking Heads. There’s also an interview with Brian Eno here.

It’s your (wishful?) imagination. He said he’d be performing Talking Heads songs that Eno worked on, back when Brian was an unofficial member of the band. Even though Eno, alas, won’t be on the tour, given the reports that Eno’s presence during that period contributed a lot to the friction between Byrne and the others, this would seem an unlikely occasion for a Heads reunion, if that were even imaginable. Relations between Byrne and the others were pretty frosty for a long time, though maybe they’ve warmed a bit. We can always hope….

What a great tune….a breath of fresh air….am wondering if the tour will include Australia?

He says he’ll be performing songs that He and Brian have done in the past “either together or with the Talking Heads,” but I think he’s using the phrase to describe the songs, not the upcoming performances.

Ah right. I know that Eno is not touring with Byrne either….

[...] We seem to have dropped into a musical theme over the weekend and with that in mind I wanted to point out a post that David Byrne wrote on his blog. As you can see above he is pondering the idea of less press and pr and more online discovery. I believe Byrne is doing the right thing as there will be plenty of buzz around a new Byrne and Eno album on the blogosphere. And Byrne and Eno are both influencers and trusted sources. Those two elements alone will help any PR 2.0 campaign gain traction. I posted a slide show about PR 2.0 here, and also wrote an essay about Social Media, Blogs and Advertising which can be found here. Meanwhile I’m looking forward to spreading the word on the new Byrne and Eno album, Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. You can hear a cut from the new album and download it too. Click Here.
