More Free MP3s from the Promo Pile in June

Nirvana Converse
No it doesn’t…

June has almost gone and I haven’t had time to get through all the promo MP3s in the in box yet. The incoming music plugs have remained constant and mostly the quality is very high. Although I have mentioned this many times, I’d like to reiterate - I prefer electronic submissions. I have no use for CDs. Once upon a time I used to sell the promo CDs and give the money to my kids’ school music programs, but no longer, the used CD stores don’t offer more than a dime for a promo CD these days. So, please - electronic submissions. Thanks for listening.

The stand out album for me this month was Booka Shade’s ‘The Sun & The Neon Light,’ a concise yet worldly mix of electronica, 80’s flashbacks and even hints of Underworld when they were at their peak. I’m ranking this alongside The Notwist’s ‘The Devil, You + Me’ in my album of the year to date rankings.

My rant about my massive dislike of Coldplay caused quite a stir here at the Moose. I thought I’d repost the maudlin ‘Violet Hill,’ the first track that they released for free from the new album so that you can all make up your own minds about it.

Enjoy the promos below and as always, if you’re loving any of these tracks run on over to iTunes or Amazon’s download area and buy some more.

Booka Shade - Dusty Boots
Paige Rasmussen and Nat Kendall - All I Got
Run On Sentence - The Afterlife Pt.1
Coldplay - Violet Hill
The Saturday Knights - Dog Park
The Bug - Poison Dart (Skream Remix)
Sébastien Tellier - Sexual Sportswear (Donovan Remix)
