Thumbing through Justin Kent’s Flickr set of Tuesday night’s Jamie Lidell show, I can’t help but smile again. And again. Mr. Lidell does what very few artists are capable of doing: he creates and facilitates a righteous musical hootenanny wherever he goes. His brilliant nerdy-chic personality sets everyone at ease while motown-esque grooves get every ass shakin’ and his booming tenor voice warms the heart. The Portlanders were singing, dancing, and giving Jamie and his stellar 4 piece funk band the best damn call for an encore I’ve ever witnessed: the band walked off the stage and everyone in the crowd just kept singing. And singing.
