the finn riggins super punch out
Not only was I fortunate enough to catch up with Haily, Idaho’s Finn Riggins recently, I also got socked in the ribs a few times by the trio’s live set. It was a transcendent post-punk/post-epic 70’s rock experience. Having just returned from a 32 state tour, I found Cameron Bouiss (drums, steel drum, vox), Eric Gilbert (vox/synth), and Lisa Simpson (vox/guitar) to be personable and sharp both on and off the stage:
JR: Do you guys have a superpower?
LS: Teleportation. That’s how we tour.
JR: So, if you’re at a family reunion and Aunt Melba asks you what your music sounds like, what do you say?
LS: I just say “we’re a rock band.”
EG: Yea. I just tell them we play original rock.
Editor’s note: I would place extra emphasis on the word “original.”
