takedown notice number 2 arrives, from brightcove

The copyright police are working 24/7 by the look of it. I have a personal Brightcove account which I admit has been laying dormant for some time. It appears the Brightcove people have flagged my videos up there as suspect. The first two, you will note, are by Menomena and Boy Eats Drum Machine - so my new band mate in Faux Hoax, Danny, is suing me??!! And Jon Ragel, the man who posts like crazy here at the Moose - suing me??!! Nah, I didn’t think so but it does show you that rampant copyright policing will eventually lead to a lack of cool, creative stuff - more art basically - as people begin to fear being sued for infringement. Big brother has arrived.
File number three, by the way, is a video of an interview I shot with the lead singer of Pilate, a Canadian band. I didn’t get around to using it in time for a show they played at Doug Fir so I posted it on Brightcove. The last file, a video of Thom Yorke’s Harrowdown Hill by noted interactive and motion producer, Portland’s very own Chel White is available everywhere online.

Dear Brightcove,
Thank you for having my back. As you can see, Dave is contrite for his actions and I am confident we will be able to settle outside of court. I am hoping to secure a sextet of Ale through our negotiations. DA may bring up the several sextets of ale I’ve already mooched from his fridge, but I am counting on the shadow of fear your notice has cast over his heart to be the bargaining chip I need to seal the deal.
My taste buds thank you. My liver thanks you. America thanks you.
