free mp3s from the promo pile

The Moose mailbox overflows each week with incoming brown padded envelopes bearing the latest CD from some band or other. The interesting part of this is that the electronic and hip-hop outfits send me everything electronically and the rock dudes send me physical CDs - now what does that say? What I can tell the rock folks is that if they were to send me their music electronically then they would have a greater chance of being posted to the Moose. I have just spent an hour ripping and uploading these 12 tracks and let me say that I am not happy about it, I merely persevered. Ezra, who works alongside me here at Moose HQ is always complaining about the preponderance of electronic and hip-hop music over rock music that I post up here. Well now he knows why…the rock comes in the mail and I am lazy.
Here’s 12 cuts that I’m posting without comment except to say that I will be listening more to Loxsly, Yoav, Spy Island and Blackstrap as they all stood out for me. Enjoy.
Jim Noir - What U Gonna Do
Blackstrap - Rough Parade
Say Hi - Northwestern Girls
Spy Island - Pink Like Smog
Ludlow Lions - Other People’s Ghosts
Bad Dudes - Mjölner
The Epochs - Thunder and Lightning
thebrotheregg - Elevators
Loxsly - Lamprey Eels
The Wherewithals - The Point
What Made Milwaukee Famous - Blood, Sweat and Fears
Yoav - Club Thing

I noticed you didn’t post any tracks from that highly unusual-looking album by Planters. Is Cocktail Peanuts any good? Its fancy packaging reminds me of PIL’s Metal Box, but it’s too damn tall for most store shelves. What were they thinking?
Heh.
