the drones tour with band of horses and hook up with atp

Aussie band The Drones has landed itself a slot on the Band of Horses US tour, and to cement their happiness they also rejoice in the fact that they will be the first band to kick off ATP Recordings’ new series of double 7″ vinyl called Custom Made; ATP being the All Tomorrows Parties folks. I’m liking the cut I’ve posted below and agree with the publicist’s blurb - Australian band The Drones have been bringing their brand of multi-faceted blues-based psych-rock to us for years with acclaimed albums like Here Come the Lies, Wait Long by the River, and their 2006 release Gala Mill. So check ‘em out on the tour and have a listen to the MP3 below.
The Drones - Shark Fin Blues [MP3]

I cannot speak highly enough about this band.
Shark Fin Blues is one of my all time favourites and the album it’s snipped from, ‘Wait long by the river and the bodies of your enemies will float by’ is equally superb! You get to hear that great Australian tradition of honest, raw and unique guitar music made famous by bands like Birthday Party, The Scientists, AC/DC, Dirty Three. They don’t sound anything like any of these bands but there is that sweeping landscape of sounds, epic and textured, dusty and gritty. The lyrics and vocal delivery I love too.
I’ve also seen them play twice, once with Dirty Three and lastly with the afore mentioned Scientists. They blaze! Be sure to get the any gig early to see them.
