daft punk live - audience interactivity
This just in from Fader Mag - “Expect this to be gone quickly, but for now, it’s the video for “Harder Better Faster Stronger,” filmed by 250 attendees of the Alive tour stop in NYC (one of whom works in this office!) and edited by Olivier Gondry.” Thanks for the tip, Mark Baumgarten of Sound Mag Seattle.

I was really looking forward to this video after seeing the invitation to bring a minidv camera to the show. Unfortunately I think the execution (editing) is pretty poor, it comes across just looking sloppy.
Why can’t we have a professionally shot dvd of this show, it’s the greatest electronic show anybody has ever seen. :(

i can’t imagine how crazy it was to sync up 250 video sources.
turned out great.

i think the combination of the sound being pretty good mixed with the idea of 250 people shooting the show made it for me. it was raw, but i had that feeling that i was there….

heh, I can appreciate the work that must have gone into syncing it up, and I’m sure that if Olivier is half the perfectionist that Michel is he probably spent a ton of time on this.
Unfortunately I can’t help watching it and thinking that it looks really similar to every other crowd shot video on youtube. The fan-edited Coachella video has tons of synced sources as well and achieves a similar aesthetic for an entire show. I just want to see a beautifully produced, professionally shot tour video at some point.
