oj book and fox tv interview canceled

It seems the blogosphere won out again today. I did my bit personally; not in this blog but by writing emails to Borders, Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Fox etc and the only ones who replied were Amazon who told me that they would sell the book regardless of the furor as they didn’t believe in censorship. I find that fair comment but misguided. The issue seemed to be more about common decency; here was a man who was found guilty in civil court of murdering his wife and her friend who was now about to cash in by (ghost) writing a so called “confessional memoir.” The whole thing stank and it was no surprise to note that Fox and its parent company, News Corp., were involved.
Well today they heard the public’s outrage and thankfully they took action - “New York, NY - November 20, 2006 - News Corporation Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch today announced that the company has canceled publication of the book If I Did It as well as the corresponding FOX broadcast network special. Mr. Murdoch said: “I and senior management agree with the American public that this was an ill-considered project. We are sorry for any pain this has caused the families of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown-Simpson.”
More.

The thing that kills me is, with all due respect to the sensitivity issues, nobody has even addressed the notion that not only was the entire “If I Did It” concept in incredibly bad taste, but it was also put forward by FOX, who purport to be the “fair and balanced” overlords of judeo-christian decency and conservatism. HAH! Fox has finally rolled over and displayed their true colors.
Naturally, Fox’s true colors are the same colors used to print currency.
I’m sure Murdoch is sorry…sorry he got caught out as the king of the tackiest tribe of neo-journalistic bozos to roll along since the McCarthy era.
