Not sure what the powers that be over at Merge Records might make of me adding M Ward to the weekly podcast so here’s a recent clip of his Letterman performance. You know something, never mind the guy with the shaved head on percussion and other metal bits, the greatest female drummer since Sheila E is back there playing her heart out. Yes, say hello to Rachel Blumberg.

ah, good question. for all round skills I have to say Sheila E in a contest between her and Rachel but the BEST drummer in Portland has to be Danny “Menomena” Seim…..
