I got a last minute invite to a surprise unannounced set by Lady Sovereign at Aura. Yet, after seeing the line around the block that reminded me of the line around the block the other night at the Decemberists ’secret’ show at Acme, I decided I wouldn’t have time to see the Lady as the main deal for me was to see Heroes and Villains at Dantes. Joined on stage by musical friends galore, including local record producer Jeff Saltzman and members of the March Fourth Marching Band, Heroes and Villains got down to business, rocked hard and delivered. Considering the stage at Dantes is somewhat snug it’s a miracle that they all squeezed up there not to mention that everyone could be heard. Good stuff as John Peel used to say.
