festival de parades de coura
August 17th, 2006 by Dave Allen

Up in the mountains of northern Portugal, Gang of Four, shared a festival stage with the likes of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party and We are Scientists while 20,000 music fans shook off the rain and had a blast. Here’s a video of Karen O and the band. Audio’s a bit quiet but you’ll get a feel for the atmosphere of the show.

Thanks for the brilliant performance at Paredes de Coura - yours was the most powerful show I’ve seen in a long time. Please come back to Portugal soon…

[...] Since starting our Gang of Four reunion tour in London in January 2005, we’ve been lucky enough to visit many countries, cities or festivals that we had never played before. First one up in ‘05 was the Coachella Festival then on to Japan where we played the Mt Fuji Rock Festival. We ended ‘05 by playing in Renne, France which was new for us and then in early 2006 we played in downtown Austin, TX on the 8th floor of a parking garage during the SXSW Festival where this video of Anthrax was shot. Just last week was the Festival de Parades de Coura north of Porto, Portugal and coming up our summer festival tour takes us to Dublin, Ireland and Brazil for the first time. But the one I’m bummed about missing the most is the Rock ‘n’ Coke festival in Istanbul, Turkey. Turkey will have to wait until 2007 for a visit from G4 but I for one am looking forward to it. [...]
