exit music - songs with radio heads

exit music radiohead

Now here’s an idea…gather together some of the biggest DJ’s around, ask them to do a cover of their favorite Radiohead songs and then release the mixes as a compilation cd. Well, good idea, strange end result. The cd has already received a drubbing at PopMatters and Pitchfork.
I’m not sure why those two rags’ reviewers took such a harsh view of things, but I do think that Pitchfork’s reviewer missed the whole point of Shawn Lee’s jazzy, quasi-swing version of ‘No Surprises,’ especially after Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien had already compared the original version to Louie Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World. It would be fair to say that the cd as a whole is rather patchy but some tracks stand out, especially RJD2’s version of ‘Airbag.’
