Colour Of Spring is a definite desert island disc for me. And Laughing Stock is way out there with the best avantpop. There is something about Mark Hollis' voice that goes to my throat every time. Timeless and valuable indeed.

Thanks Steve, actually I found the Maddow thing rather sad... not something worthy of the legacy.

I saw the Maddow Show. It looked like they used this photo of the latest lineup: http://www.gangoffour.co.uk/images/media/images/press001.jpg
So unfortunately the MSNBC-watching public was denied the smiling visage of one of post punk's best bass players -- alongside our own Alan Turton, of course :-)

As for Talk Talk...fabulous band, and always such stunning production qualities.

All the best,
Steve Harvey/medium medium

Dave--how right you are! Talk Talk is a favorite round here and definitely underrated.

PS--dunno if this is old news to you, but I saw your mug on the Rachel Maddow show last night. She was discussing the Gang of Ten (healthcare reform panel) and said "This group shouldn't be confused with the great post-punk group Gang of Four" and flashed the reformed line up pics including a gent we all know round here ;-)

Maddow is down with the GoF, apparently.

Thanks, Mark, I'll go look for it. I have the Hollis solo album. Slightly disappointed in that one...

Don't forget to pick up "Missing Pieces" (a collection of 'Laughing Stock' era alternate versions and b-sides), and the Mark Hollis solo record.
