Talk Talk Valuable and Timeless

Talk Talk Pampelmoose

In discussions I’ve had with different friends about the essay, talk has always turned to my point about musicians creating something “valuable and timeless.”

Here’s the actual line – “… a few examples of musicians currently providing what I feel is valuable and timeless work; I consider valuable and timeless as ‘worth spending time in the present with,’ as time is our one truly finite resource; art does not necessarily exist to entertain us, it should fill our time with wonder.”

There was a lot of agreement about this point, but art and how its perceived is very subjective. Not all will agree on what I think fits my criteria for music that fills my time with wonder and pleasure. That said, I will try posting examples of bands and musicians fitting the bill as it were, as regularly as possible.

Up first, two magnificent and sadly overlooked albums from Talk Talk, led by Mark Hollis. Take a look at what people who bought Laughing Stock and Spirit Of Eden had to say. Both albums are outrageously good and fine examples of what we came to call post-rock. Click on the album title links to buy the albums, of which both can be had for a mere $11.00.
