The Canadians are coming [again.] The Balconies hail from Ottawa and consists of Jacquie Neville (of Jetplanes of Abraham fame), Liam Jaeger (ex-For the Mathematics member), and Jacqui’s brother Steve Neville. There’s a lot of talent wrapped up in this tight-knit pop-rock trio as each member is an experienced song writer and performer. The Balconies manage to express an impressive blend of early punk rock, catchy melodies with occasional three-part vocal harmonies and plenty of guitar skronk freak outs. And Jacqui Neville has the vocal power and prowess of a young Neko Case. The Balconies will release their debut album September 15th. This is a promising outfit and definitely worth your time.

Hey c’mon now, we’re OTTAWA not OTTOWA.
But thanks for shedding some light on our little town (incidentally the capital of Canada).
