Go here to vote for your favorite top ten alternative bands on Seattle’s KEXP. Why oh why doesn’t Portland have a station like this? Just check out the huge list of bands at that link..read ‘em and weep as they say.. Then tune in to their live streams.

Or, you could always shine a light on what is here, and damned fine: opbmusic.org– in-studio recordings too: opbmusic.org/performances
December 17th, 2008 at 10:18 amWell, we do have a little bit of Portland in KEXP, with our very own DJ Santo doing two shows a month FOR KEXP’s Mo’Glo program. However, it is neither IN Seattle NOR Portland…the shows only air on WNYE-FM in NYC as part of a joint programming venture. Confusing, no? You can hear his show called “Something Different” every Sunday night IN Portland on KMHD-FM 89.1, but that show is something different entirely from KEXP.
In the meantime, I recommend listening to Dave Allen on KNRK. He knows a thing or two about cool music.
December 17th, 2008 at 10:26 amYou are both right, there’s good stuff to be found here in town, it’s just hard to point folks to it. I didn’t want to pimp my own show at KNRK but readers of my blog are definitely downloading it like crazy from here. And big props to OPB Music, didn’t mean to leave that one out… I just like the idea of a fully-dedicated station like KEXP and would die to have one here in town like that.
