Hot Chip have brought us all a small Christmas gift in the shape of two MP3s. And the greatest gift is that Robert Wyatt is on these recordings. The man is a legend and I encourage you to follow the wikipedia link to discover what an influence he has been. He was part of England’s ‘Canterbury scene‘ back in the 70’s that brought us bands such as Soft Machine and Matching Mole.

Meanwhile, here’s the blurb from their PR folks:
Hot Chip have posted up the second of the free tracks from the new EP with Robert Wyatt & Geese, ‘We’re Looking For A Lot Of Love’. Chosen from the band’s album ‘Made In The Dark’ by Robert Wyatt and re-recorded together in London earlier this year, Hot Chip’s old friends and collaborators Geese (aka Emma and Vince from The Elysian Quartet) also lent a hand to create this stunning new arrangement.
The full 4 track EP will be available from all good record shops from next week but in the meantime enjoy this free taster of the new recordings from the band.

Oh man I love Robert Wyatt! This track is gorgeous.
December 19th, 2008 at 4:18 pmDave, thanks for the Hot Chip link. Wyatt has long been a great. Ihave albums going back to the earliest days. Just recently he gave this 40+ min interview to the Guardian – well worth anyone’s time and a reminder why we should buy direct (he can’t tour).
