Finally a Yeasayer song that captures just how danceable the Brooklyn based band is when in the live arena! Leave it to fellow Brooklyn dweller and remix extraordinaire Pocketknife to make the leap. Propping up “Sunrise” with additional percussion while leaving the vocals and original flow of the song intact, he’s succeeded in translating the live energy of Yeasayer onto a record… or rather MP3.
I was taken aback earlier this year when I first caught Yeasayer live. Nearly every track had a new arrangement with a sound more fit for dance clubs than a hipster hippy gathering. Most responsible for that transition? Drummer Luke Fasano’s throbbing, almost tribal beats that were not only on par with the hottest electro, but more in tune with Yeasayer’s organic vibe. Now Pocketknife has brought that edge outside of the venue and into my itunes, a trip I’m ever so grateful for.

Go check out their performance on Take Away Shows. After seeing that I was amazed and bough the album. Yet to see them live though…
