Narwhal vs. Narwhal at Cherry Sprout Produce from The Penny Jam on Vimeo
Posted by Jon Ragel of Boy Eats Drum Machine – - As an independent sort of musical anti-revolution washes over Portland, The Penny Jam seems not only determined to document The Rose City’s unique assembly of artists, they’re doing it with cinematic style and deft sound quality. Check out those veggies! Narwal vs. Narwal never looked or sounded better.

Indie rockers = sheep. One touring indie band comes through town and plays a few songs in a vegan grocery and suddenly every marginal indie outfit thinks playing a stunt show in a grocery store is a great idea. It’s pathetic. There is no imagination left.
November 4th, 2008 at 10:53 am@Mike: The Penny Jam doesn’t film ‘stunt shows’; they pair artists with interesting destinations and document the occasion. I’ve seem them work and they’re constantly scouting new places. I thought it was brilliant when they shot Laura Gibson at OMSI, but I love pictures of produce. How to compare? Apples and oranges, I guess (zing).
