It’s time to hit the road again. The SanFranMusicTech Summit is happening again on Monday Oct 20 and I am honored to have been invited back once more to participate on a Social Networking panel. The conference has attracted a formidable list of speakers. And here’s the about: “The SanFran MusicTech Summit will bring together the best and brightest developers in the Music/Technology Space, along with the musicians, entrepreneurial business people, press, investors, service providers, and organizations who work with them at the convergence of culture and commerce. We will meet to discuss the evolving music/business/technology ecosystem in a proactive, conducive to dealmaking environment.”
On Wednesday I jet to NYC for CMJ and another panel, this one with the esteemed DJ/Producer, Artist and Author, DJ Spooky. Here’s the blurb on this panel: “Current Independent Culture Through the Eyes of True Indie Pioneers. Some are saying that with the decline of the major label system, there will soon be an insurgence of more successful independent record companies and independent artists. This panel will dive into the minds of and experiences of Indie warriors prying out information to forecast the prospective future climate of music and other art forms of the independent landscape. Discussions will include everything from personal views to personal experiences and will focus on where the independent music scene is headed.”
Another reason for being in NYC is to see the PDX@CMJ showcase at the Knitting Factory on Friday Oct 24th. If you happen to be in town for CMJ then this is a great way to see tons of Portland’s finest doing what they do best.
I will also be on a panel for the Grammy MusicTech Summit in Seattle on November 6th and 7th. That’s a lot of hot air blowin’ in a short space of time…..

Interesting sounding panel at CMJ. I’d be curious about the indie’s views on how they view themselves in context with the major music labels and the digital music distributors. It’s not so clear to me that the indies are faring better. For example, the majors are far more represented on MySpace Music than the indies.
PDX@CMJ is a show I’d love to see. Have fun!
