[It's my fault that this is late to the blog - DA.]
Post from Nilina Mason-Campbell. Who cares about Mondays? Or rather Tuesday mornings. Day-job duties were out the door when it came to Born Ruffian’s set at Holocene last night. Typically shows at the start of the week tend to simmer down around midnight, but that’s just when the headliner’s party was beginning. While I bowed out at 12:15 to catch the last bus home, the Toronto-based trio was just getting into its fourth number. Jumping into its grandest and best jam “Kurt Vonnegut” (a song normally saved for next to last), Born Ruffians was instantly on a roll, inspiring foot-stomping and hand-clapping from the rambunctious crowd. Before my early departure the Canadians debuted a brand new tune and delivered a long sincere ode to hometown openers Nurses. Endearing much? I do believe so.
