"I’m wondering if anyone else smelled that horrible burning plastic smell midway through TVOTR’s set. I’m guessing something blew."

- a friend of mine, whenever he gets the whiff of ozone / plastic wafting off stage says "That's the smell of expensive"

Dave, 100% agreed. I grabbed some cell phone footage that I had intended to share, but it turned out pretty crappy and the audio was whack. The show was good (per usual) despite the many issues I have with the Roseland. I'm wondering if anyone else smelled that horrible burning plastic smell midway through TVOTR's set. I'm guessing something blew.

BTW, they were playing the Roseland Theatre on Fri night. The venue itself is extremely heavy-handed when it comes to security but my beef was with TVOTR's tour manager. I know she has a job to do but there are good ways and bad ways to deal with people, let's just say she wasn't a "people person." And why the band would lock down access to the side stage area I don't know. In an age when every person with a mobile phone or pda can pop off a picture or a video at a show and have it on the internet minutes later, it seems less than logical to control someone wearing a press and photo pass and keep saying no to every request. Never mind...as you can see from the video I did shoot, the other 99% of the artists had no problem with the idea of blog exposure.

"no video due to the band’s overzealous tour manager, but more on that when I’ve gathered my thoughts."

We all need to gather our thoughts given some venues were like mini security states while others were welcoming. I've not heard anything by this band that explains why you would want to record their performance. Birds of a feather? Where were they playing?

How about a more general thread where opinions and news/reactions could be posted from the side column, instead of under a specific thread.
