I like it.
I’m a 16 year old kid who thinks it’s just fun music, not to be over analyzed by people like the poster above me. So what if they are “pseudo-indie”?
You are being just as pretentious as those “yuppie insects” you mention.
If I may generalize for a moment, you are probably pitchfork media’s target demographic. And that is not a complement.

Airborne Toxic Event is just another self-absorbed, spineless pseudo-indie rock band seeking to capitalize on the shitstorm of lame, overly-emotional music that is AIDS’ing the alternative music industry right now. I don’t know anyone who actually likes this sorry excuse for music aside from pathetic yuppie insects.

I’m disappointed that nobody wants to stoop to discussing my idea about sending gushing letters to reviewers who hate your band. As in, “My god, you are SO right about us. We suck mightily.”

But then again, I’m shamelessly trolling here. This post is ancient and I haven’t had a bit of harmless internet fun in a while so this is me being utterly lame on a Saturday night.

If Pitchfork and all you people who demand originality can give Interpol a fair review, then Airborne Toxic Event should get one too. Rarely do we ever see new music that is original and good. All I ask for in a band nowadays is music that entertains me. Please. I love both these bands, and yes neither is that original. Doesn’t mean they’re not good at what they do though.

I heard these guys on the radio (WFNX) and my immediate reaction was “HOLY FUCK, everything about this song reminds me of other bands.” The vocals reminded me of Conor Oberst, the persistent, freight train guitar reminded me of LCD Soundsystem’s “All my Friends,” and the strings were definitely from an Arcade Fire song. I was going to call them out, but then I checked Pitchfork, and welp, they beat me to the punch. And much more eloquently so.

I fucking hate Airborne Toxic Event. I live in L.A. and I can’t stand them. They are a complete rip-off. There is NOTHING unique or original about them. I completely agree with the Pitchfork’s review and love them for writing the truth about a dog shit band that spends too much time sucking their own dick.
