
Portland’s very own, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, have a new album arriving in March entitled ‘Real Emotional Trash.’ Pitchfork gave him a call for a chat about making that record, Portland, Blitzen Trapper and making music for the Todd Haynes Dylan movie, ‘I’m Not There.’

I wrote the other day about the new Stephen Malkmus album and today I received a cut from it – Baltimore – which is apparently a Randy Newman cover. Meanwhile another Portland band, A Weather have a new album coming out February 8th on Team Love. The Raveonettes have signed to Vice and will release their new album, Lust Lust, Lust soon enough. And then I found yet another Radiohead remix.. Also my 2007 top ten best albums list overlooked the rather fabulous Jay-Z album, American Gangster, a set of songs inspired by the movie of the same name, so I’ve dropped in a cut from that album too, which by the way is still only $7.99 for a DRM-free album download at Amazon.
