Pampelmoose is a music and MP3 web site covering the eclectic independent music scene. We stay clear of major labels and their artists to avoid having the Web Sheriff gallop through our offices. We are indie at heart so we support all things indie – in all its shapes and forms.
Dave walloped the bass strings and is a founding member of the highly influential, post-punk band, Gang of Four. With his business partner, Ned Failing, he started Pampelmoose in 2005. We love music and we love the way the internet leveled the playing field for all artists.
Josh Kneedler is a highly experienced interactive designer. He began working in online media in 1997 at the birth of the interactive world, a world we now take for granted, one that has become as common as the utilities we use at home. His skills consist of design, programming, and creative direction. It’s an eclectic mix, but one that is vital to pursuing new ventures where traditional broadcast media rules do not apply. Josh understands that music artists no longer need traditional record labels. A consumer in Japan may never have heard of our local Northwest music scene so local bands need a different way to promote their independently produced CDs. Josh has the necessary skills and experience that highlight innovation over imitation to tackle contemporary challenges in the world of interactive programming, design and creative marketing. Some of Josh’s work can be seen on his web site: http://www.joshkneedler.net

[...] Ok, after starting out at 3PM Saturday afternoon I managed to roll around town catching the CD Forge party, the Music Millenium party and then meet Jenny Tatone and head off to see Ghostface Killah. Here’s where our day got weird….when did PDX import those giant paramilitary, black-clad security guys? What a buzz kill, and of course a sad commentary on how hip hop shows are viewed in Portland. As poster guru, Mike King said to me, “welcome to White Chocolate City, Dave”. Ouch! Anyway, back to Ghostface. I suppose it was nice of Nike to help bring artists to town for the festival but it felt strange and Jenny and I couldn’t get into the vibe, boredom set in as well as heat exhaustion so we went for dinner. After food we went over to Towne Lounge to mellow out with electronic/analog composer Ethan Rose. Watch the video. Brilliant atmospherics. We caught some of the Jackie-O Motherfucker set and then went over to Satyricon to arrive at the end of Yacht’s set, damn. Hung out with Danny from Menomena and Maggie Vail and Portia from Kill Rock Stars. From there it was to the Roseland to catch the mayhem that is Girl Talk. [...]
September 10th, 2007 at 10:07 am[...] Well, Justice plays Portland, the biggest thing to hit town since the last biggest thing to hit town and you didn’t get tickets? There may be a solution. I talked to Scott Mclean over at Holocene and he tells me that there will be 50 tickets available at the door on the night of the show so you procrastinators may well be in luck yet. Maybe it’ll be as crazy as last September’s Girl Talk gig.. [...]
October 8th, 2007 at 4:12 pm[...] Well it’s been a hell of a week in music…Radiohead, Madonna et al, but nothing beats a big fat sweaty night out in a small club watching this week’s act of the moment, Justice tearing it up. And I say that without cynicism as much as with a dose of reality, things move fast these days. The Justice guys don’t DJ so much as fire off sharp, staccato cut ups interspersed with power drill bursts of synth bass lines all designed to make you bounce off the walls, and the crowd at Holocene did just that. Not quite as intense a night as the Girl Talk blow out but still pretty impressive. Props also to Adam and Justin from Nemo Design for the cool Justice poster.
