Po’ Girl, a three piece, all female Canadian group (tonight joined by a male banjo player from Olympia, Wash.), provided a rich and moving set of soulful folk songs set perfectly to the waning sun and the midday’s lackadaisical crowd. Audience members, swaying and nodding along, lounged among the grassy hill while Po’ Girl belted beautifully melodic, often stomping, country tinged cuts about life, fear and, the ultimate goal, happiness: “Ain’t life sweet when we know what we’re doing,” one of the three singers crooned. “Ain’t life sweet when we’re not afraid.” Indeed.
