This week the Moose interviews Portland’s very own indie sensation Menomena who recently signed to Seattle’s Barsuk Records home of indie scions Death Cab For Cutie . Brent and Justin from the band discuss their new CD Friend and Foe and the weird comparisons to bands such as TV on the Radio and The Hold Steady and how their CD release party on January 28th at the Crystal Ballroom includes a 25 piece choir. Plus they use words like zeitgeist. They also try to cover up the fact that they’ve killed their drummer Danny and dropped him in the Columbia River. came across this today. kind of interesting. It seems that if labels want to flourish in this digital age, they must set up lucrative digital distribution deals and strategic relationships otherwise their duties looks simlar to a grocery list of task that any artist can already do themselves.
