Mark Baumgarten, Willamette Week’s music editor, has thrown in the towel. He’s moving back to Minneapolis to run a new magazine called Metro. Here’s his sign off over at Local Cut. “I’m generally not one for the third person business, but this post required me to be in the headline and I sure as hell wasn’t going to use the first person. That’s just the type of music editor I am. Or, well, that’s just the type of music editor I used to be, I guess. Now that it is 5 pm and the pages for this Wednesday’s Willamette Week have been sent off to the printers, the slave drivers here have let go of the whip and are allowing me to tell you that today is my last day…..”
No comment on Mark today. I was just wanting to recall the pitchfork article from a few days ago stating that Gang of Four may put out new music. I starting thinking “do the guys from Gang of Four have more control over their back catalog and new music than they did when they were with EMI”, I thought it was a great thought and if Dave was willing to comment on this I look forward to seeing the post.
October 26th, 2006 at 7:03 amBryan, we still have limited control over our back catalog. We have complete control of our latest material. For instance last year’s Return the Gift album was licensed to V2 for the world for a limited period of time. And the new one will be released the same way….
